Meatball Ingredients
The ingredients below are what make up these tasty light and airy meatballs.
- Ground beef or chicken/turkey: the bulk of the ingredients
- Egg: helps to bind the ingredients together
- Breadcrumbs or oats: keeps the meatballs from becoming dry by absorbing the juices and trapping it within the meatballs
- Onion: adds flavour
- Bell pepper: optional, but adds extra flavour and nutrition
- Garlic Powder: adds flavour
- Salt & Pepper: again, adds to the flavour
Easy Basic Meatball Recipe
In a large bowl combine 1 lb of ground beef or ground chicken, 1 egg, 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs or oats, 1/2 minced yellow or white onion, 1/4 minced bell pepper(optional), and 1 tsp garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste.
I like to mince my vegetables quite finely so a food processor or mini chopper works well for this.
Roll the mixture into meatballs and set aside until ready to cook.
Oven Method: Place meatballs on a tin foil-lined cookie sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray for easy cleanup and bake at 425°F for 15-20 minutes until they are fully cooked.
Air Fryer: This is my new favourite method of cooking meatballs! Preheat the air fryer to 350°F. Place in air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 8 minutes turning halfway.
Use a thermometer to ensure the meat is fully cooked. The temperature should reach 170°F/77°C.
Serve as desired.
These meatballs also freeze well. Let the meatballs fully cool before placing the pan directly into the freezer. Once they are individually frozen, simply place them in a freezer bag.
