May Favourites 2020
I hope everyone’s May was as good as mine! Even though we still have social distance rules in place, we had a pretty exciting month. I have a lot of good favourites to share with you.
May Favourites
Our New Home!
We moved into our new house on May 1st and absolutely love it! We were living in a basement suite previously and although it was okay for a while, it was time to find something to better accommodate our growing family. We are just renting right now but have the option to buy so our goal right now is to save up for a down payment so we can get our own mortgage.
The house is in a great neighbourhood, within walking distance of my parents too. It has 3 bedrooms upstairs and a nice big kitchen with an island and pantry. It’s pretty much the perfect home and fit for us. It even has a two-car garage. However the basement is unfinished and there is no yard, fence or deck up yet. But those are just minor details and we can renovate the basement however we want if we do end up buying the house.
I am feeling extremely grateful and blessed to be in our new home, especially during these uncertain times.
New King Sized Bed
My husband and I have been wanting a king-sized bed for a while and we thought it was a perfect opportunity to buy one when we moved to the new house. There was a big sale at one of the department stores in town and Chris hopped on down and found this Sealy king-sized mattress. I love how much space we have now. We like to cuddle, however, I say there is a time to cuddle and a time to sleep, and we like our space when we are sleeping.
The mattress is a lot firmer than our former one which took a night to get used to but now I feel it is more comfortable because it gives more support. It also came with new pillows which again took a night to get used to because we were used to our flat unsupportive pillows, but I find the pillows to be more comfortable now as well.
Fabletics
I’ve mentioned Fabletics before in my February Faves post when I purchased 2 leggings for $24. I just recently received a sports bra and a pair of shoes from Fabletics. I have to tell you Fabletics is my favourite affordable active wear brand! They have a sizing chart so everything I ordered was true to size. The sports bra is super comfortable and great for working out in. It fits snug but not too tight like some sports bras can be.
I wasn’t too sure about the shoes, but I am impressed! Again they fit true to size and supportive for the high arches that I have. I have been wearing them as my inside shoes and when I workout. They are breathable and I can easily move in them during a workout. They are comfy and stylish and match my leggings and sports bra too!
Adidas Shoes
Another pair of shoes that I love are my Adidas shoes. I actually purchased these back in December but I haven’t worn them much since I live in Canada and there was snow on the ground for most of the year. And when the weather warmed up I didn’t have anywhere to go with the stay-home order. But the few times I have worn them I loved them. They look so cute and stylish, and are comfy too! Definitely a staple in my closet!
Tumbleweed Apparel
A very dear friend of mine started a clothing company last year called Tumbleweed Apparel which sells western-inspired tees. They are super comfy and stylish! I purchased the “start livin” tee last year and it has been my favourite tee since. It fits true to size and you can easily dress it up or down.
Della also just launched two unisex hats and I was in desperate need of a hat so I purchased the Aspen hats for both my husband and me. They are very comfy hats too. They have a stretchy band and are adjustable to fit any size. I also had to purchase myself another tee which I got the “So did I” tee because I love the saying and the colour. If you are looking for comfy, and stylish tees and/or hats go check out Tumbleweed Apparel.
Mules
No not the animal… but these super cute slip-on shoes. I know, another pair of shoes right! A girl can never have too many though!
I saw some mules last year and I thought they were really cute but I couldn’t find any that fit my feet comfortably so ever since then I’ve been on the lookout for a good pair. Surprisingly I found this pair at Walmart! These shoes are cute and fashionable, and actually comfortably fit my feet! They had a few different colours to choose from but I chose this patterned pair. And for only $15 I can’t complain! I can’t wait to start wearing these everywhere.
Emie’s Cleansing Foam
This is not so much for me but for my daughter Sydney who is almost 11 months old now! My sister got this baby wash for my baby shower but I didn’t start using it right away because we had so much baby wash already. I’ve been using this bath wash on her for a few months now and I am officially sold. Previously I had been using Aveeno baby wash which is great for sensitive skin but it is very thick and hard to not only get out of the bottle but work up a lather too. So when I tried this cleansing foam I was pleasantly surprised. It is to easy to wash because it is a foam and you don’t have to struggle to get it out of the bottle. It is also lightly scented but the smell is amazing! I love smelling my freshly bathed baby!
Carrot Cake with Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting
I have to include food in my favourites and this month it is Carrot Cake! This is one of my favourite cakes, but of course, it wouldn’t be my favourite without the Cream Cheese Frosting! The cake is so moist and the cream cheese frosting just makes it so irresistible. This is definitely a must-make treat.
Eye glasses
I had been wearing the same pair of glasses for about 10 years… since high school and I desperately needed an upgrade. When my glasses broke in March it finally gave me the excuse I needed to purchase a new pair. (Since my husband and I don’t have benefits I had been holding it off for a while..until I actually NEEDED new ones).
So I hopped on down to Optiks International and found two pairs of new glasses. The first pair was 50 % off the lenses and the second pair was only $20! Check out Optiks International for a great variety with fantastic deals.
They are very different from what I was used to and definitely took a day to get used to them but I am very happy with the way they look on me.
“It’s a beautiful day” sign
Last but not least is this beautiful sign I impulse bought at Home Hardware. It matches our new home so well and I love the saying so I just had to buy it. It fits perfectly on the ledge above my desk and the purple matches the big purple wall in our kitchen. It makes me happy just looking at it 🙂

Love seeing all your favourites! Thank you for sharing, I’m going to be getting myself some fabletics for summer workouts. Congrats on your new house!
Thank you, Della! 🙂
