April Favourites 2020
We are still in quarantine/self-isolation, and I have to say I am getting pretty tired of it! But I am thankful that my family and I are safe, healthy, and doing well in this difficult time. Here are some of my favourites from the month of April. Mostly food-related as I am a total foodie but here we go!
April Favourites
Healthy Carrot Cake Muffins
I just published this recipe this week, and I made another batch for myself a couple of days ago. These muffins are my new go-to early morning snack. They are made with the goodness of whole wheat flour, carrots, and naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup. The best part is you can’t even tell they are healthier which makes them a great snack or breakfast for both kids and adults alike!
Stok Cold Brew
As you may have read from past monthly favourites I love to drink an iced coffee every afternoon. My husband picked up this bottle of cold brew from the superstore one day for me and now I always keep it stocked in the fridge! It makes it so much easier to make iced coffee when you don’t have to make coffee in advance and cool and refrigerate it beforehand. I’ve only tried the unsweetened version because I like to sweeten it myself by adding chocolate syrup. However, I saw this Stok almond mocha flavour last time I was at the store so I think I’ll try that one next. I posted on Instagram how I make my iced coffee, check it out here and click on coffee highlights to check it out.
Zevia Soda
I don’t usually drink soda but when I do I like to drink Zevia. Zevia is naturally sweetened with stevia instead of refined sugar so it is a great alternative to regular soda. They are calorie-free and naturally flavoured so there is no artificial nonsense. Sometimes I just crave carbonation especially with certain meals so I love that I can choose a healthier option. Even though I have only tried the cola flavour, they come in a variety of flavours. There are also a variety of other drinks available such as energy drinks, tea, and kids punch.
LÄRABARs
I love to keep snack bars on hand for emergencies when I don’t have any snacks around the house, or need a quick on the go snack. I also keep a bar in my bag for those times when you are out and about and need an emergency snack to keep you going. LÄRABARs are my favourite bars because they not only taste delicious but are made with only 3-6 real, wholesome ingredients. They are also gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, and kosher. They have 10 yummy flavours to choose from but the chocolate brownie flavour is my favourite.
Chocolate Layer Cake
I made this cake for Easter dessert and frosted it with my Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. This is such a great cake. All-time favourite decadent cake to make for all special occasions. Top it with ice cream and you’ve got the ultimate dessert. I am working on updating this post too so stay tuned for that.
Fuzzy Socks
And finally, something that is not food-related on my favourites list is fuzzy socks. We have a secret sister program at our church that is lasting the whole year. It is where we each get assigned a secret sister to give us surprise gifts throughout the year but we won’t know who our sister is until the end of the year. My secret sis surprised me with a bag of fuzzy socks and I have been wearing them around the house constantly. They are so comfy! So thank you to my secret sis…whoever you are!
