What are Baked Beans Made out of?

Turn a boring can of beans into something spectacular with the following ingredients:

  • Bacon
  • Ketchup
  • Barbecue Sauce
  • Brown Sugar
  • Canned Brown beans in tomato sauce

Baked Beans Recipe

Start by frying up 5 slices of bacon until crisp. Set aside onto paper towel.

Mix together 1/4 cup of ketchup, 1/4 cup barbecue sauce, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 can of brown beans(398 ml) in tomato sauce. Crumble up the bacon and mix with the beans mixture. Pour into a small casserole dish  (I used a 1.5qt).

Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350° F for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.  And it really is that simple!

These beans are covered in such a tasty sauce you will want to lick your plate when you are done. Although I am tempted to lick my plate, I like to use any excess sauce to dip whatever meat I barbecued that day. A slice of buttered bread will also clean up any leftover sauce so you can savour every last bit.
