I can hardly believe Summer is half over already! July has been a busy month. Sydney turned one and I went back to work part-time as a nurse, so we’ve been very busy. June was a bit slower and I didn’t have enough favourites to create a blog post, but a lot has happened in July and I’m excited to share my favourites!

July Favourites

Jane Iredale PureGloss Lipgloss in Sangria

Much of the makeup out there is so bad for your skin but Jane Iredale Cosmetics is actually good for your skin! This line of mineral cosmetics uses the highest quality ingredients available to ensure satisfaction with performance, coverage, application and texture. Laboratory tests confirm that all of their products are non-comedogenic and do not block pores. They use a combination of natural preservatives, always excluding parabens. And they are cruelty-free! So you can see why Jane Iredale is easily my favourite makeup brand!

I just recently purchased their lipgloss in the shade Sangria. It is a natural-looking, sheer tint of colour. Ultra-glossy, soothing and protective with natural calming properties. Long-lasting and free of petroleum-based ingredients. All of their makeup is on the pricier side, however. For me, I am all about minimal but effective and high quality, therefore it is worth the purchase for me.

Their website has a quiz you can do to find exactly the product you want/need. I used their quiz to find this shade of lipgloss and it was spot on with the results for what I was looking for. They sell their product in many salons where makeup artists are ready to assist you with finding and recommending the best products suited specifically for you as well but if you are worried about Covid you can stay home and use their online quizzes to find exactly what you are looking for. You can also call their customer service line if you have any questions.

Canon EOS Rebel T6 Digital SLR Camera

My husband surprised me with this Canon Rebel T6 for my birthday! Every photo up until now has been shot with my iPhone. It has taken me a while to get used to the camera and I am still learning how to use it but I have taken some photos with it and it has been a game-changer for me. I used my camera to take shots of my strawberry jam and blueberry crisp below. I am excited to post new photos, so be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss anything!

Creative Live

Since I have a new camera I needed to learn how to use it. I came across Creative Live which offers tons of online courses. I bought the Photography Course by John Greengo. I have only watched a few classes so far but it has been great. You get everything at once so you can learn at your own pace, and you own your class for life. They also have free online classes and you can purchase The Creator Pass which unlocks 1500+ classes on demand all year.

Homemade Strawberry Jam

Homemade strawberry jam has been a favourite of mine since I was a kid. I have been making it homemade for years, it is so much better than store bought! I just make it using Certo pectin crystals. I make both freezer and cooked jams. I love it on toast, bagels, English muffins, and Pb & J sandwiches!

Blueberry Crisp

I just made this Blueberry Crisp and it was delicious! I topped it with some ice cream for a yummy Summer treat. This Blueberry Crisp is filled with a juicy sweet blueberry filling and topped with a cinnamon sugar crisp made with oats, brown sugar, flour, and pecans. So good! Recipe coming to the blog next week, don’t miss out by subscribing below!

Adobe Lightroom Classic

Since I have a new camera, I really wanted a place I could edit and organize my photos. Adobe Lightroom is my favourite editing program for photos. It is quite easy to figure out and there are tons of great tutorials on Youtube. PHLEARN is a great resource for Lightroom tutorials.

There is also a free Lightroom App you can download, but it does not have all the features of the full version of course.

Headbands

I purchased two headbands from Shein in June and they are so cute! I didn’t have any stylish headbands and I really wanted to change that. I purchased one pink headband and one black. Both are knotted with pearls. I was a bit wary about purchasing online because I have a small head but they fit really well and I am very happy with them.

Skinny Double Chocolate Muffins

I just made these muffins again last week and I just can’t get enough of them. They are so chocolatey and delicious you would never know they were healthy! They are also kid-friendly and can be turned into mini muffins.
