Summer 2020 At a Glance
This Summer has been filled with precious memories spent with the kids. For those who don’t know we have two kids. William, our 3 year old son, and Sydney our 1 year old baby girl. We had a pretty chill summer spent at home for the most part but we played outside almost everyday. Here’s a glance at our Summer of 2020.
Sydney Turned One
Sydney turned One on July 5th, and boy did it go by fast! She just started walking a few days before her birthday and is always on the go. She is even running now.
We had a little party for her where we ate cake, cookies, and other goodies. Sydney had a blast.
Started Back to Work
I went back to work on July 9th. I work as a Licensed Practical Nurse at a Continuing Care Facility. I fortunately only work about 1-3 days a week, which still leaves me time to spend time with the kids, housework, and blog.
Playing Outside
I think you’ll always see this one on every At a Glance post because I think playing outside is so important for kids and my kids love it! Since we moved back in May we’ve had lots of time to explore our neighbourhood, going for walks, playing at a couple nearby parks, and we are also in walking distance to my parents house too. We don’t have a finished backyard so we often walk to my parents house to play in the backyard and spend time with “Grandma & Bumpa”.
We went to the local Splash Park a few times as well. The pools were not opened but luckily we had the Splash Park. My husband also put up the big pool in our backyard so we spent a few hot days swimming in the pool. William, however didn’t like the pool because it was too cold, so he played beside the pool instead.
We also visited a local nearby beach with a friend a couple times. The kids love going to the beach and William actually goes in the water.
Praciticing Photography
Since I got my new DSLR camera in June I’ve been taking online courses on photography because I was only using my iPhone before and I had no idea how to use a real camera.
Therefore, I have been practicing on my food photography throughout the summer. I also went out to a field with a friend and the kids practicing manual mode and took pictures for a friends birthday party who also turned one this August.
I will continue to keep practicing and improving my skills.
Visiting with Grandma
My Grandma came up for a visit at the end of July so it was so nice to see and visit her. She stayed with my parents but we visited a lot and she came over for a day and helped me put up my Kitchen Family Wall Gallery.
We also went on a road trip with my sister at the end of August and stayed at my Uncles Farm for the weekend which the kids love. In addition, we stopped in Saskatoon on the way home to visit my dad. We went to a children’s play place where there were lots of bouncy houses. Although Sydney was scared in the bouncy houses and mostly just watched, William had an absolute blast!
Started to Run
I had not ran since pre pregnancy with Sydney so I thought “Its been over a year so I think I can try running again”. Since it is too hard to run with kids I used my moms treadmill. I only run 1-2 times a week but it feels good! I got right into it. And it wasn’t a shock to my body since I have been working out since January, I just haven’t tried running until now.
I would love a treadmill in our own basement one day but they are so expensive and it’s not really a priority right now.
Making Jam & Jelly
I made a couple batches of Choke Cherry Jelly as well as Apple Strawberry Jelly with my mom. We made up the Apple Strawberry Jam Recipe so stay tuned for the recipe in the near future. Sign up for my emails to be notified of new posts!
So all in all we had a pretty good summer! Had a lot of fun playing outside for sure. I hope you enjoyed reading all about our Summer of 2020. How was your summer? What was your favourite part of your summer? Answer in the comments below!
