Sweet and Sour Chicken
You are going to love this Chicken because it is dressed in an easy to make sweet and sour sauce that gives it incredible flavour and baked until tender. A healthier homemade choice to make, opposed to many fried versions.
This Chinese dish is simple to make. All you have to do is mix all the sauce ingredients together, pour over your chicken, and bake. Serve with rice and steamed vegetables if desired.
This recipe calls for cut up chicken breasts, but you can also use whole chicken drumsticks and/or thighs, or even pork chops! Just make sure to bake according to the meat you are cooking and use a meat thermometer to be sure the meat is cooked.
Sweet and Sour Marinade Ingredients
These are the ingredients you need to make this delicious and flavourful sweet and sour sauce mix.
- Dry Onion Soup Mix: This is the base for the sauce. You can also substitute it for dry mushroom soup mix.
- Brown Sugar: Adding to the sweet part of this sauce.
- White Vinegar: Adds to the tangy sour taste of the sauce.
- Soy Sauce: Another component of the sauce which adds strong flavour.
- Cut up chicken breast: You can also substitute for whole chicken thighs, and/or drumsticks. Pork chops would taste great as well!
How to Make Sweet and Sour Chicken
You’re are only three simple steps away from the perfect Chinese chicken entree.
In a small bowl combine soup mix, brown sugar, vinegar, and soy sauce.
Place 2 lbs of meat in large casserole dish and pour sauce mix over.
Cover and bake at 350°F for 1 hour. Check with meat thermometer to ensure meat is fully cooked.

- ¼ cup brown sugar light
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp white vinegar
- 2 lbs chicken breast cubed
