Simply prepare the ingredients the night before in a mason jar or container and reap the tasty and nutritious benefits in the morning. Perfect for busy mornings.
This version of overnight oats combines chocolatey flavour with peanut butter, and can be enjoyed all year round. It is super simple to whip up the night before, simply mix all your ingredients into a mason jar, cover with a lid, and place in the refrigerator. And, it is ready to be devoured in the morning. For extra flavour, you can garnish with extra peanut butter, sliced banana, and even mini chocolate chips for some added sweetness!
The chocolate in this recipe comes from Silk Almond Dark Chocolate Milk. You get the goodness and nutrition from the almond milk, but also get the delicious dark chocolate flavour in there. And, of course, don’t forget to add the creamy peanut butter- keep it to the natural kind to stay on the healthier side. These ingredients mixed together with rolled oats, chia seeds, a pinch of salt and splash of vanilla makes for a delicious and nutritious breakfast!
You can also substitute the Silk Almond Dark Chocolate milk to regular milk, and add half a tablespoon of cocoa powder as well. I personally love the Silk Dark Chocolate Milk the best in this recipe.
I also love this dark chocolate almond milk in my smoothies, and even add it to flavour my homemade iced coffees.
What kind of oats are best for overnight oats?
Old-fashioned rolled oats are best for overnight oats because they will soak up the liquid in the recipe well without getting mushy. Skip the quick oats and steel-cut oats for other recipes because they won’t hold up as well as overnight oats. Instead, save the quick oats for Healthy No Bake Energy Balls and the Steel Cut oats for Pressure Cooker Steel Cut Oatmeal.
