Death By Chocolate Trifle with Skor
This Death by Chocolate Trifle with Skor bars recipe is rich, decadent, and insanely good. Featuring layers of chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, Cool Whip or whipped topping, and crushed Skor bars. Despite its name, it is quite a heavenly dessert! Would make an impressive dessert for any party.
Today I am sharing one of my favourite dessert recipes. This Death by Chocolate Trifle recipe has been in my family since I was a child and every time my mom made it I would get so excited. It was a special treat in our house.
It sounds a bit daunting with all those layers but it is actually easy to make. The key is to prepare the ingredients beforehand for easy assembly.
If you choose to make the chocolate cake layer from scratch, use your favourite recipe or mine here. Although, I admit I like to use a chocolate cake mix for a quick and easy dessert. However, if I have time I will make my homemade chocolate cake because it is much tastier. Trifles are a great dessert to make for a crowd as they can serve a large group of people. This recipe serves about 10 large portions or 16 smaller portions.
You will need a trifle bowl for this recipe. However, you could also make this in a large regular bowl if you do not have a trifle. Clear glass is best so you can see the pretty layers. You could also make this into individual portions as well. You can find individual plastic cups at most dollar stores or here are some clear plastic dessert cups I found on Amazon.
This recipe uses crushed Skor bars, however, Skor bars are a Canadian chocolate bar so if you are from the States you can use Heath bars. And, I can’t say from anywhere else around the world but basically, you can use any bar that consists of toffee surrounded by a chocolate coating.
